Just a curiosity question. There are a lot of new builders cropping up. I have a maple Fishook (#65) and I really like it.

Man, the wait....I'm gonna go crazy soon LOL

I wonder also how many Hooks are here at the Hangout?

I own Fishook #58 - a large-body old growth black walnut. You can see two pictures in my album. My Fishook is, without a doubt, the best guitar I've ever played, let alone owned. I've had the distinct pleasure of having both Rob Ickes and Tim Graves play my Fishook at the Gettysburg BG Festival in 2007. Videos are on YouTube if you'd care to look. JD's guitars are highly recommended!

Your koa Hook is gonna be a killer Jim! Keep us posted.

Very nice Square Neck! I am excited for you. That is some great looking walnut on your 'Hook Slim.

I really like my 'Hook. It inspires me to play more. I just love the tone. And it has plenty of volume if needed and I don't feel like I have to force it. I spend more time playing the guitar rather than fightin' it for tone and volume.

Mine is the "older style" too. If I ever had the money I would probably get one of his new designs for the contrast.

Hey thanks for all the compliments on my Koa, it should be ready on the 12th of next month!! Fbounds did you buy yours on here used? If so, I almost bought it but could not get the money together at the time. Man, JD sure can dig up some killer woods.

Square Neck, I bought it from the classified section on reso-nation. It is maple #65. Blonde, highly flamed maple. There are some pictures in my photo section. JD builds a really fine Reso.

Recognize?? Hell yes! That is the one that inspired me to order my Koa from JD! Thanks for posting them. Actually your Koa and mine are more or less brothers (same block of Koa). Mine is scary loud, banjo killing is not even sporting anymore LOL.

Hi Guys,
I have just became the proud owner of Fishook #72, Old American Chestnut. It should arrive the end of next week, I can hardly wait! :-)

Square Neck - Posted - 02/05/2010:  20:13:19

WOW!! Congrats!!!

Is it this one.....
reso-nation.org/forums/sponsor...ut?page=2

I saw that one in person while it was still in progress. Those inlays look so cool in person. JD sure has a wide range of visual touches. I like that Chestnut, my Koa has chestnut bindings. Some good old classic American wood.

"End of the week" that aint any kind of wait LOL!! I had 9 months!! I'll bet it is still killing ya

The people want some pictures when you get it!!

I didn't see it in person, just pictures as the build progressed. My impression was understated elegance. A beautiful res to get started with to say the least. I have no doubt you will be extremely happy with it. I waited 2 months for my first one and it sucked, the worst was the last day, I am in a very rural area and the last on the list for delivery.

For the first time in 36 years my marrige is in trouble LOL! Well maby not the first time, because I too belive that you can't have too many Friends, fishing rods, guns and Resos

I have been married 32 years and here is a little trick I learned. Get the wife involved in it. Mine is getting a reso too. Now, when she get the GAS I will be the benefactor. I got her involved in Hunting and Fishing as well and it worked!!

Hey, Mike! Have you thought about writing a book on the subject? We could all use some conversion advice!

Grizz - Posted - 02/06/2010:  10:15:59

It could be in the offing. You never know. I only hope she don't read this. Mike
