Does anyone have the TAB for MaryAnne? Thanks,

Dean

I'm not sure about MaryAnne, do you mean Sally Ann?

Dean Upson - Posted - 02/05/2010:  07:49:04

No Troy, it's Mary Ann.

Jimmy Martin did it youtube.com/watch?v=k400prJh43E and so did the Lonesome River Band youtube.com/watch?v=LpHxihdgNq...e=related among others. Just a tune that gets stuck in my head and I think it would sound great on a reso.

Cool! I'll have to check it out. I've never heard it before.
Thanks Dean!

dean i used to teach that as one of the first songs whenever i taught keyboard lesson. the chord progression is a 1-5 chord progression in any key. there are no 4 chords or minors in it in its simplest form. example in key of g it starts with g and then goes to d the fifth. i have some sheet music to it but it is in c. hope that helps. you should be able to pick the melody out if you have listened to it. if not i will set my keyboard up and write out melody in the key of g for you.

Man, I thought I was going to like the LRB version better, but I think Jimmy and the boys nailed it! Now, if that had been Ronnie Bowman singing with the old Lonesome River Band, it probably would have tipped the scales.

Gawd, I miss the King of Bluegrass Music!!!

I think that is a great song when just about anyone sings it. If I hear it, it just keeps going over and over in my head.

Actually, Matt Leadbetter is playing a reso on the LRB version mentioned near the beginning of the thread. Problem is, the camera man was more interested in watching the lead singer take a drink of water than letting us see Matt play his break. Oh well...

You might want to also check out Ronnie Bowman's YouTube video of this song recorded at the Station Inn (with Jimmy Stewart on reso): youtube.com/watch?v=Sd-sIPd_qCA

I for one, think it is about time to put the reso player right next to the singer and move the Banjo player out to the back 40 hell we'll still be able to hear em'
