Howy'all, second visit here, diggin' it, yeah. I'm not much up on Anything current but I saw a video a couple years ago that blew my hair back. I have no idea this cats name, seemed to be a yougster (to me anyway) playing some FAST wild dobro stuff, instrumental, couldn't even classify it, was NOT bluegrass. Anyway about the only other thing distinctive, visually, about this vid was that the fiddle picker had a mohawk. Anybody tell me who and what I was watching? abcd

This would be a perfect description of JD but the Mohawk threw me. I would never have guessed Mike had a Mohawk in a hundred years. This is too funny. I didn't even know Mike played fiddle. As my learning progresses I want to take some video lessons from Mike and Johnny Bellar. Thanks Brent, I didn't have either of those video's on my play list. Mike P.S. Dave, I think JD is the same age as you now.

Thanks Mike, you caught my mistake. I just realized after reading your post that I meant Gabe Witcher. I do believe that they are brothers anyway, but I could be wrong - happens a lot.
Those two videos are some of my favorites too.

Brent, I loved the video anyways. Then again I never seen a JD video I didn't like. I am in the process of trying to find a deal on a good used laptop. I want to get all the TAS videos but they are in PAL format. My situation is I have a $1600.00 DVD player, a high end DVD player/burner, a VCR, my audiophile sound system and satellite box (I only get 3 stations without it) so I don't want to hook up any more equipment permanently. A laptop will work, it will play both formats PAL and NTSC. And I have a video input on the front of my TV that I can use when I watch these. All I need to find out is if they will play on my NTSC TV. Sorry Dave, I don't mean to hi-jack your thread.
Mike
P.S. Dave, first of all accept my apology for not welcoming you to RH. This, as you will see is the premier reso site on the net bar none. They are the nicest, friendliest most welcoming people you will find anywhere bar none. You will find everyone from beginners to the pro's all with a common thread. The love of music and the love of the reso. I really hope you enjoy it here and have some fun with us along the way.

Got 'em, Thanks Guys, checked out the you-tube links Slim sent, looked familiar, scanned through the other JD videos, yep that's it, " Patrick meets the brickbats". Incredible musicianship!!! Seeing/hearing this again sent chills up my spine. Yeah, Gabe Witcher huh?, sawin' n' scrapin', and who's that flatpicker matching licks with Jerry? Would like to hear the bass player spank it a bit more but what a great band. Will definately want to aquire this stuff, do people still buy CD's?, I haven't bought one since Tower closed. "Down Home Music" ain't too far from here but every time I go there I can't pay rent for a few months. Dang, JD must have a right hand with 10 fingers and a left arm like Popeye. And Grizz you did welcome me to RH yesterday on my first post "unplated reso plate" thank you Sir, Thanks to da bot' a ya's. abcd

Yeah Mike ' the Bob Brozman Hawaiian instructional DVD is one of my favorites, the playing and historical information on Hawaii are most entertaining, Dave

Hey Dave,
The original guitar player for "Patrick Meets the Brickbats" on the album "Lookout for Hope" is Bryan Sutton. I haven't seen the music video in a while, but Bryan is also the guitarist on the Merlefest live video.
