Is there a standard ratio of ebony to maple?

I put about 1/8" on quartersawn maple. Easiest to glue up a block, then rip insert blanks from it as needed.

I agree. If you are going to make several, a block is the best way to go. In the past I have had to make a lot of them at one time (for a once-was big customer). I thickness-planed scrap ebony fretboards down to about .150" thick, and glued each of them to a quarter-cut, piece of maple that was roughly the same width and length. I then resawed these blocks and got "sticks" that could be cut to bridge length. That's about 5-6 bridges per stick. I sanded them to the perfect thickness before cutting them to length.
Recently I had an order for a 2/3 / 1/3 "split-top" bridge. Although not common, some people like this style of bridge to balance the harshness of unwound strings by having the harder ebony under the wound strings, and the maple under the unwound ones. Here's a page from a rather lengthy thread from this same site, showing how I made a small batch of this type of bridge. You may have to scroll down a bit to get to the bridge part...
