I know, real resos don't have pickups. I also know I really want some pickups. I think it will make the guitar more useful for me.

The PBR Deluxe is great, plays well, stays in tune and great pasture tone. I tend to play outdoors a lot so if it can ring in a pasture then I'm happy. I also like modding amps and pedals so she needs some pickups. This is a round neck so I do plan on using standard tuning when flat picking is needed. It has built in reverb (the cone) and I love it.
So I'm looking for a good pick up for the the cone and a nice bluesy pickup for the neck.

For the neck I'm looking at this:
store.guitarfetish.com/gfsnyodestsu.html
us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.co..._15976619

I think it will fit, sound right and look right for the reso.

For the cone/real tone I'm still up in the air. My local shop wants to sell me a Fishman but I"ve read good and bad. I've heard good things about Shecter. I don't know about this pickup yet.

I also want to be able to blend these two pickups which should not be a big deal.

Any suggestions would be great otherwise I'll keep yall' updated.

What type of music are you going to be playing Billy?

I have them on a metal body and a wood body and wow...

Prior to owning the Gold Tone I was playing a Taylor and a Tele. I'm into my blues phase of playing right now. I also have a lot of original songs that are alternative/Texas folk type music.

I'm seriously checking out your Lace pickup. Did you do a permanent install? Do you feel like a cone based pick is necessary as well? This would be an easy solution to my problem.

The Lace pickup sounds ok...I would use a cone pickup to add a little more cone to make it sound more realistic. Maybe a McIntyre feather, which I hear a lot of good things about, but even by itself the Lace pickup sounds ok. Great if you're playing with a drummer and a loud band, because it doesn't pickup a tone of cone, so you don't just hear the snare through your pickup.

Oh yeah, I did a permanentish install. It just doublestick tapes to the top (hardcore doublestick, this ain't yer scotch tape vibe) but in my wood body I pull a ring and ran the wire through the ring hole, at some point I need to put screenless rings on there and make the thing look semiprofessional seeing as I'm a damn luthier, and then installed a jack in the side of the dobro.

Did you take out the cone to put in the the jack? I'm thinking I could probably work it around the cone without taking it out. I hat to undo my Beard setup.

I say take the cone out, just be gentle and put it back in the same way it came out, no big deal. If you're going to get a second pickup, it'll have to be put on the cone anyway.
