Skip James was an old fingerstyle blues guitarist I don't think he ever owned a reso. You may look at some of the old blues guys like Robert Johnson, mississippi john hurt , muddy waters and those old blues guys it wasn't all that complicated but it was some amazing music. Not alot of fingerstyle people around who do that stuff unfortunately, probably because of lack of interest.
