This is the very 1st song Os taught Me in 1974 , in 75 Os & Charlie were playing at Chicago University , I had picked Them up at O'hare and driven Them into the City , for some reason I had put My picks & Bar in My pocket , Os played a couple of Dobro tunes and then said " Ernie come play Sailing Along with Charlie " WOW was I shocked , But I played it good on Ol Herman and Thats the Truth if I ever told it !!

Os played it 2 ways, Forward slants on the 1&2 strings and 1 & 3 also played it on the 2 & 4 Strings as well with reverse slants I played it Both ways

Man i wish there was an abundance of tabs for dobro as there are for the MILLION reg. guitar tabs on the internet[:D]

I saw some great speckled bird tabs but it didnt seem right.i was able to get part of that song right. couldnt figure out the
high vibrato 2 note trills oswald does, he does em really high off the frets i think? probably with some time (that i dont have) i could figure them out..[8D]

A really catchy song that i would enjoy a tab for would be Pins and Needles in my heart by Roy acuff.
I would like to offer my great speckled bird tab in exchange for pins and needles. thanks

Howdy all, new to dobro playing not new to bluegrass and old time country music.
Nice to find a forum with friendly people in relation to my new found hobby. Ive always
been a Roy Acuff fan and i'd say brother Oswald is problably the reason why I started
playing the dobro. Then i started digging into oswalds own stuff and found alot of good
material.Songs of the islands being my favorite at the moment. I'm a seasoned guitar
player, now converting to the dobro i find it a smooth transformation -already playing alot
of my favorite bluegrass tunes on the reso.

Been looking for tabs for this song preferably in open g tuning.thankyou

Can anyone supply any or all Carter family songs with reso tabs?
My wife and I have been performing Carter songs with 2 acoustic steel-string guitars for a long time, but I would like to bring some variety into the act so I got a dobro. I have started learning with Mel Bay's You Can Teach Yourself Dobro by Janet Davis, which is good but doesn't have much in the way of the Carter family.[:)]
