More About Me

I grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Charlottesville, VA. I was born into a musical family with a dad that played bass, mandolin, guitar and fiddle. I later attended James Madison University and majored in music with an emphasis on piano. I currently play a number of different instruments, but Dobro is my favorite along with the piano.

I can teach advanced playing, but it would depend on the style and the level of the student.

I am very knowledgeable with music theory and I understand how to approach an instrument in order to learn more effectively. I teach all of my students to play by ear and I teach the number system because I believe that it is very important for a musician to understand these concepts.

I would be willing to try online lessons and see how they go for the student. Sometimes online interactions can be affected adversely by the connection speed.
