How do.  This looks like a great site with great people, and I tried wading through the search function to find out what I need to know, but seems faster to just ask.  Just got a squareneck yesterday, a Regal something-or-another (don't know how to tell what model).  I don't have any experience, but play a little guitar, self-taught, along with piano accordion and Cajun accordion.  Wanna play Cajun/Classic country/old tyme and such, and want to start out right.  I live in Fayetteville, AR., up in the NW corner of the state, in the Ozark Hills.

Okay here it is . . . wait for it . . . wait for it: any suggestions?  : )

Thanks!

Hi, and welcome. Try reposting this in the playing forum, so more people will see it. I'd give you playing advice, but It would be better if someone who actually knows something advised you.

Here you go. http://www.lessonswithtroy.com/dobro_lessons/  THE best place for you to go. From the list on the left under "Dobro Lessons" chose the top one "beginners"  Now you will have many choices. From an individual lesson to a set of lessons. I started with "Dobro for the Complete Beginner" only $6.95. I worked with it and a couple simple beginner songs for months. I wanted to develop good habits as good ones are easier to learn than trying to break bad habits. Jimmy Heffernan, http://www.jimmyheffernan.com another outstanding teacher has a lesson just on breaking bad habits. So I figured get it right the first time. From there you can get songs, if you run into a particular snag believe this, he will have a lesson to help you with it. From hammer on's to pull off's, rolls, slants, alternating bass and the list goes on an on in addition to songs. Spend some time on the site even look around outside the beginners section.
