I'm not sure if anyone could (or would be prepared to) help, but here goes.

I bought a metal OMI dobro on ebay a couple of weeks ago - I knocked them down on the price after it received no bids (it was advertised as an electric acoustic!). Anyway, my sister (who has lots of USA friends) suggested someone in Ramona CA who could post it on for me. This evening, his wife has thrown her toys out of the pram (why I don't know), and said it would cost $550 to post to UK (its the size apparently???), which is way too much IMO! I am unable to negotiate with her about it!

Anyway, is there someone on this forum that they could send it to, and I could then pay you to repack it correctly and then to send it to me in UK - paypal / money order / whatever. I could pay you in advance a ball park figure if it helps!

If anyone thinks they could help, PM me please. I know its an odd request, but I'm stuck right now!

I don't want to promise anything but I will need you to PM me with your full address, and the size and weight of the package. I have to have this information before I can give you a cost. I also need to see what is required of me for international shipping and if there is anything radical involved. I would only ship UPS or Fed Ex. I have one question, why does i have to be re-packed?

Well Deuce, you're not going to like this but I done an estimate and these are the UPS figures. Then you have to add the cost of shipping it to me. Better bite the bullet of cancel the purchase. Sorry.

The repackaging thing might not be necessary, but I have no info on what its packed in - maybe a coffin? If so, a more appropriate 'carton' may be the answer. I'll have another word with a couple of people today and see what other options there are - I have overnight found someone in Albuquerque who may have a solution...
