Bobby, I have 2 "James" resos. Check them out on my homepage. The African Zebrawood is mine and was set up by the legendary R.Q. Jones. The Myrtlewood is my wife's and is shipping here tomorrow and will arrive Thursday. Harry is a wonderful builder and human being. Check this out when you have a chance http://www.orbod.net/aa4ga/jamesreso.htm it's what set me on the quest. Also check out the thread "here we go again" under reso related topics/product reviews and shopping advice.

A few more pictures, to show a bit of what we did today...
Since Bobby's peghead overlay will be bound around the edges, we had to shape the binding before gluing it in place....

After getting the shape of the binding to match the edges of the peghead, it is time to glue them in place. Using nails and pins on a wooden workboard is an "Old School" way of doing this, but it seemed the right way to go this time, especially since this binding includes strips of wood, which are more difficult to bend...

Here's a quick shot of some Mother of Pearl blanks that will be used for inlay. Bobby requested a custom inlay on his peghead. These blocks will also be used to make the name blocks that will be inlaid in the fretboards. I usually cut these blocks by hand, and engrave them with my CNC machine, but these ones will be cut by a friend in Montana with a laser cutter....

A bit blurry, but here we see Angie's ebony fretboard on the left, and Bobby's rosewood fretboard on the right. Angie has opted for wire frets (not yet installed) whereas Bobby requested flush frets, so we inlaid 1/16" wide strips of curly maple in his rosewood board. Behind the fretboards you see stacks of kerfed lining, for many soon-to-be-built resophonic guitars, acoustic guitars, and mandolins.

We pressed the frets in Angie's ebony fretboard before calling it a day. Since her fretboard is also bound, you have to clip away the tang on the bottom edge at each end of the fret wire before pressing it into place. Of course, you can't tell that from this photo, but it's good to know...

Mike --
Bobby has opted for a color scheme that we have nick-named Avatar Blue. We might change the name though, seeing as how the movie by the same named pretty much tanked at the Acadamy Awards the other night...
A couple more shots from today's efforts. These photos might help to explain why there is so much time involved in this whole process. If we were just building these two resophonic guitars, we would have been done a long time ago! As it turns out, we had other commitments, and have other instruments in progress, not to mention the "parts and accessories" side of our business, which is chugging right along, as well.
The "Little Fellah" in this shot is Angies peghead overlay, which got bound today, along with a RedLine Traveler walnut mandolin that is on order, and a RL-45 Acoustic Guitar, which is also being built to order. You might be surprised how much tape (flat back, masking, and double-stick) goes into each instrument, as it makes its way through all of the processes...

Nothing really relative to this particular build, other than a glimpse of how this project fits in with the bigger picture of what's going on around here. Hanging from the ceiling is the current batch of Traveler Mandolins in the process of being finished, and a couple of RL-45 Acoustic Guitars, the mahogany one having just been bound, and the rosewood one just edge routed, and ready to be bound.
