I was jamming last tuesday and when I went to get a drink of water my dobro [1990s OMI] slipped off of the chair I placed it on and hit the ground. This caused the neck to seperate slightly at the heel joint [where it joins the body] I now have a gap about the width of 3 sheets of xerox paper. Is this a big FIX. I have never had the instrument apart [ I dont think it ever was apart since it left the factory] I called RESO Outfitters and am waiting to actually talk to a repair guy [ Ive used them before and they are GREAT in fixes] I seems ok but the intonation seems off UP the neck [ or my playing is getting worse- which MAY be the problem] ANY of you guys ever have this problem-thanks for the imput.

You may have knocked the spider out of wack or damaged the cone when your guitar hit the floor. If you're up to it, you may want to pull the cover plate off and check things out.

Definitely check the spider alignment first to see if that's the intonation problem. If it's not a bolt-on neck, resetting is a pretty big deal, and you might not want to bother. With a bolt-on neck, open up the instrument, give the nut a turn, and you'll be good to go. How much did the neck separation raise the string height at the higher frets?

Not much at the heel - but-- laterally about 2 mm- I called howard at Paul Beard and he said check the bridge [ actually bridges with an 8 string] they seem ok. BUT i may send it to them anyway for a overhaul. After 20 yrs it needs it.
