Phil, I love this stuff. I have a Myrtlewood with Curly Maple top James coming in March, and I'm sure you seen Dean is getting the Myrtlewood Clinesmith from Corey. This is gonna be drop dead gorgeous. Mike

Yes and some of the best sounding sets I've had the pleasure to come across. I am curious as to your ideas on the Mango. Phil@masteresoguitars.com![]()

Phil,
This should be an interesting build! I built my first actual acoustic (non-reso) guitar late last year. It wound up being a myrtle wood parlor guitar that I built for my wife. It came out great, and has a real nice sound. Since then, I have built a couple of flat, Army/Navy style mandolins from the same wood. They are just about ready to be strung up. I think myrtle wood is an under-rated tone wood. I have some nice thick slabs of myrtle wood to work with, but nothing big enough for a full size guitar.
Please keep us posted as to this build, OK?
Steve

Phil, Dave Fox told me this Myrtlewood will blow my socks off. He said this thing is LOUD. Was that the way your first one was? Good banjo killer. Hmmmmmm that's what I'll name it "Killer". ![]()

Georgous set of wood for the new myrtle, Phil! I got a chance to test drive one of Phil's older myrtle guitars (can't recall if it was the one in the picture or not) at an Ivan Rosenberg workshop in Atlanta a few years back, and it sounded great!

This is the guitar you are talking about David, one of the guys that saw it there bought it from me several weeks afterwards. His name was MAC. Phil
