Jim, it figures you would ask about that particular one.
He lists tunings for a lot of his music on his website but not that one.

Thanks for the link to his website Mike. He states that the tuning is (B-F#-B-D-A#-B) which he calls a variation of a Major 7th. It's in B and A# is a major 7 but the D is a minor third. I thought I heard a 6th in there which would be G#, I guess not, I'll have to listen to it again. Regardless, it's an interesting tuning. I'm still figuring out straight D tuning.

It does look like a large body and from the photos in damn nice condition. But if I do something I really would like the Bronson name. I'm really satisfied with my Oahu. Hey join the Wessie group, hell Oahu is acoustic slide guitar. I had mine in open D for a long time. Now I have it In Steve Dawsons C and the Wessie in D and the Reso in G and the CBG in E am I crazy? Yup. But I think that is already a matter of public record.

I picked-up an Oahu Squareneck made in 1936. Parlor size. Not a reso, but has a great deal of volumn. I put extra lights on it so i can play it late at night and not be too loud. This little guitar has mojo and character that can't be bought: can only come from being there---and it's been everywhere. Only guitar I've ever owned that is older than me. Since I got it, my Paul Beard Gold Tone has been doing a lot of hanging-around (on the wall).

They are OUTSTANDING guitars. I have the same one around the same vintage. It is sweeeeeeeeeet. I'm using the John Pearse 3160's - 015 018 027w 038w 048w 060w. Square neck has three of them. There absolutely something about these things that you can't put your finger on. Check mine out, it's in my photos on my homepage. I put a Baggs M-1 on it and you should hear this little sweetie plugged in. It still always amazes me. I had it tuned to open D for a long time, now I'm working withe the Steve Dawson DVD so it's tuned to C-G-C-G-C-D What a cool tuning for some blues. I want to get a Bronson. They were made in Detroit but the 2 guys that started these instruments split and one became successful, Oahu and one didn't, Bronson. I'll e-mail you the story it's really cool.

I'm trying to figure out if a Gold Tone Wiessenborn is a good thing. I'd love a Wiessenborn but have very limited funds. I can wait, just dipping my toe in the water. They sound so warm, I'd love to have one!! I'll be hunting the dreaded evilbay for a good used one.

IMO the Gold Tone SM is a decent guitar for the money, as far as I know probably the best for under $1000. The tone isn't as good as the more expensive ones, but those also cost at least 2 to 3 times more. I've got an SM and I'm happy with it, I'd like to have one of the higher end Wiessenborns, hopefully someday but the money's not there for it now. I got mine used but in mint condition, or I should say my wife got it for me. I think she paid around $550 for it. Gold Tone also has a laminated model, your better off with the SM, it's all solid wood.

I'm seriously considering putting a bridge doctor on mine. I'd like to put a little heavier gauge strings on it that I've been using, I've never been totally happy with the tone I get from my first string. Liz (?? I think that's who it was) put one on hers and seemed pleased with the results.
What I'd really like is a Tony Francis wiess.....maybe someday.

Hey Jim, it was Liz. She has left the Hangout, I guess she could dish it out but couldn't take it. 
She "got out of the kitchen" so to speak. I really liked her. But she moved on to greener pastures on the more "civilized" and "censored" RN 
She listed and sold the GT there. She has two Bear Creeks a Kona Rocket and a newly acquired MK and an Oahu so goodbye gold tone. I would think the Bridge Doctor would be the ideal fix short of having a luthjier "shore up" the bridge area. But that's just my humble opinion.
