Hi guys, I know some of you play Lap Steel as well as Dobro. So I just wanted to let you know I'm starting a new section on my site for 6 String Lap Steel tuned to Open D Tuning. Here's a sample of my latest lessons:

Here's a sample of Volume #1 - Part B. Enjoy!

ooooh!   ooooh!

"Should I" he said, glancing at three banjos, six guitars, a ukulele. He stroked his Beard, deep in thought...

Well, almost as a lark, I offered fifty dollars below the asking price on ebay and ended up getting a 1955 (my birth year!) Supro lap steel. Comes with the original case and warranty card! Could the warranty be any good???

Not sure at all if this is a good lap steel but a lot of the slide forums suggested buying one.

Now I'll head over to your site and start figuring out how to play one...or at least what kind of strings and slide to get.

Troy, how do you get that sound out of the lap steel? Is that a box between the guitar and the amp? Or some other kind of device? Just curious...

Hi Oboe, here's my signal chain:

Airline Lapsteel ----> Delay Pedal (sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't) ----> Mojavee Amp (all tube and only 12 watts, plus it has power dampening. This means I can cut it back to just a few watts, so it gives it a natural all tube overdrive sound.) ----> I mic it with a Beta 57a mic ----> Then I run that into my board with Stereo Reverb added to the overal sound.

I hope that helps!

~Troy~

Here's another video where you can hear all that put to use:
