I have one of his instruments and a friend really likes it. Been keeping an eye out at Gruhn, Elderly, etc. but haven’t seen any lately.

I did a search on the Steel Guitar Forum and recalled in a thread there that Bobby Branton of South Carolina, who has owned multiple McKennas over the years,  posted that Gregg sold all of his equipment a few years back and moved to S. Carolina to be near his aging parents. 



No idea if it is still available, here is a 7-string for sale on the Forum.  Usually better prices there buying from a private party than from a retail store, and with ballpark 17,000 members the odds are decent that another one could come up for sale in the near future.

Yes, Gregg closed up shop and now lives in SC and has no interest in building Reso’s.

I think the influx of import 6 and then 8 string guitars made hard to compete.
