I have to admit a certain weakness for blondes at the outset. After eyeballing JD Myers' Curly maple "Fishook" I had to look into it further. I read all the past posts from guys who had bought resos from JD, and was compelled to "take the bait" and order the maple Fishook.
... I could not be happier ! The gorgeous look of the natural maple is breathtaking. JD's construction and craftsmanship is second to none. In my communications with him, and the results of his work, it's obvious that he is totally consumed by his passion and craft! He LOVES the art and the reso... and it shows !
The large body maple is a tad larger in the tail end by about 1/4 " and this adds great bottom end. Unlike some maples I've owned / played, the Fishook has outstanding mids and the high end is crisp without being brash. The internal plexi soundwell design might contribute to the focused mids and tamed high end ? A very, very elegant and superbly crafted instrument IMHO !
If you get a chance to play one, do yourself a favor...
