I've been looking for a used tricone for awhile, and suddenly two have popped up within range (cost range, that is. Both are unfortunately too far geographically away to interview). One is a Czech Regal RC-51, the other is a recent Republic. Cost differential with shipping is about $100 (Regal is more). I'm leaning toward the Regal, although it's older and has seen more of the world. Any thoughts?

Need more information.

But to take a stab at it, I didnt realize there was a "Czech Regal." And sight unseen I would go with the Republic.

This immediately got me interested, as some of the best instruments are made in the Czech Republic (Capek, Prucha), so I Googled. It says the tricones only were (or are) made by Amistar.

I do believe that there were some Czech Regals before Saga music started building them in Asia.

You might want to try to the Michael Messer forum for more info on these guitars.
