I recently got my first resonator. Got a Republic Hwy 61. Would love to find a good online beginner lessons site for round neck. Most stuff on this site seems to be for square neck. I like the blues and want to lean to play slide and traditional chording. Anyone know of any online beginner/novice lessons for round neck resonator? I'm a beginner guitar player. Know about 15 or so basic chords and working on basic strumming. Working on learning to play simplified songs. Using JustinGuitar.com online classes. Would love to find something similar for round neck resonator lessons. Any suggestions?

Tuned like a standard guitar?

Look for guitar lessons.

You have instinctively started in a good place with JustinGuitar. That said, I recently attended  a couple of online workshops presented by Orville Johnson covering lap slide blues. He's an excellent teacher and he has online bottleneck slide classes at jamplay.com. Here is a link to his JamPlay Basic Botteneck Slide lesson on YouTube. youtube.com/watch?v=DqtrlN9YUqM&t=622s.  Good Luck and I hope this helps you out.

playcountryblues.com/ Tom Feldmann. Start with the beginning DVD and work you way up. I started there and then went on to the Blind Willie Johnson. Excellent. Highly recommended.

Thinking bottleneck slide I suppose. Just trying to get started. Been doing JustinGuitar.com and his beginner app. for about a year. Been very happy with Justin's instruction and method for basic standard tuning guitar. Like the bluesy sound of bottleneck on a resonator. I know I would like to lean a little slide  and open G and open D tuning but not sure about anything other than that. That's why I want to find a source for basic roundneck resonator lessons. At this point I don't even know where I want to go. Don't know enough to able to  make that determination yet. I do know that I want more that just basic beginner standard tuning lessons. I want to learn to take advantage of the unique sound or a resonator but played similar to a regular guitar as opposed to lap style. Hope that helps clarify what Im interested in.

My point is that you'll be looking for standard round neck guitar instruction in those tunings. Also bottleneck technique.

A round neck is a round neck, resonator or not.

Bottleneck instruction!

The instruction is the same on flat top or resonator instruments.

Have fun!

Now we are talking. Sorry if my post wasn't clear to some but you seemed to get what I was trying to say. Im a beginner and not sure at this point what exactly I want other than basic lessons for leaning how to take advantage of the unique sound and characteristics of a resonator. Not looking for basic guitar lessons in standard tuning. Been working on that for about a year. Maybe I need to just stick with that for a while longer but want to play with my new toy. Problem is basic guitar lessons using regular standard C tuning don't do much for leaning how to take advantage of the qualities of a resonator (playing slide in alternate tuning etc.). Will definitely check out what Orville Johnson has to offer.

Got ya, and thanks for your input. As I said at this point I dont know enough to even know what I want/need other than I love the sound of bottleneck slide on a ressonator and want to learn the basics and go from there. I specified round neck because I assume technique differs from square neck lap style.

Slide ( bottleneck , etc ) techniques are the same for Roundneck Resonators as for any other Roundneck guitar . ( They just sound better .)
