Hi. I was looking to get a used Aura Spectrum pedal for my resonator. I think I can get it for $150. But there`s no cable, box or anything. Just the pedal. I know the JD one is the one to get, but here in Canada it`s hard to get and I`d probably have to mortgage my house. Can I still download Images if I buy used? I did a few searches and can`t find any info. From what I understand there are some in the pedal and some you could download. Are the ones in it better then those you have to download? Thank`s in advance for any info. Dave

Hmmm. The Aura software has 12 resophonic images available, 4 with a Scheerhorn, and 8 with a Beard Mike Auldridge signature. These don't match the images on the JD Aura, but maybe if you ask Fishman they'll just send those to you, assuming it works that way. Fishman advertises the JD Aura as designed to work with the Nashville saddle pickup, so it may be voiced differently than the Spectrum.
The Aura Spectrum would probably sound good, it probably won't sound excactly like a JD Aura, and an email to Fishman costs nothing and would probably get you some solid answers.

Never thought of that. Contacting Fishman. Worth a try. Thanks for the reply. Dave

David, since you're pretty new here, I don't how how much diving into the archives you have done via the Search function.
The hangout is going on 13 years old and there's a ton of stuff in there.
Link below to a thread from 2014 discussing some of the differences between the Aura JD pedal and the Spectrum:

...and it's a good suggestion to contact Fishman. I have owned several pieces of Fishman gear over the years and they have usually been pretty helpful when I have had questions.
And as far as the Aura Spectrum reso images, the Scheerhorn versions are pretty old and not so great, the Beard MA6 versions are better.

I heard that the Beard versions were no longer available. So I think contacting Fishman is a good place to start. Thank you for the link. Dave

FYI, there are reso images both in the standard Spectrum (in the bluegrass section) and quite different ones in the downloadable image library.

I got mine. Big differences in the images...for me, the DPA 4011 image from the Aura Gallery, downloaded to my Aura, was the "best"...meaning it sounded, to me, the most natural. Image 15 from the stock images (bluegrass setting, Neumann M147) was pretty good also, but didn't quite make it, compared to the Library download image.
Now, I was playing through a Beard road-o-phonic (with Fishman pickup), so I assume it would be different with a full-size reso. I had the blend up about ¾, because the image just (unsurprisingly) sounded better than the pickup straight from the Roadie...

OK...been playing around with the Spectrum...there is a big range in realism in the images...but the one I like the best (a user image) seems also to generate a ringing in the sound whenever a double stop is played...so I backed off to a built-in image that sacrificed a bit of realism but didn't sound electronic...
