Hey All,
A friend on another site is seeking advice for a gig bag to use with a Tim-built Scheerhorn. It needs to be soft-sided. Is there something on the market that would provide adequate protection for that guitar?

Blue Heron or Reunion blues. Others here, I'm sure, have their particular preference. I think dreadnaught size is correct but, again, there may be some information forthcoming that will give you the exact model of gig bag. Otherwise you will have to go by measurements.

I second Blue Heron here in Northern California. I have one for my Clinesmith 8 string lap steel. It's a really nice soft case. While he was building this guitar, Todd gave me the option of having a hard shell case or the Blue Heron. I went for the gig bag and he sent them the dimensions. He told me that he had been at festivals where pickers with valuable vintage Martins carried them around in Blue Heron soft cases.
Todd Clinesmith started working with Blue Heron on gig bags for his L Body resonators years ago when he was still in California building resos almost exclusively prior to moving to Oregon. So they know the drill since Clinesmith and Scheerhorn dimensions are very close to each other.

I love my Reunion Blues bag for mine. It’s all I’ve used for over a year now- it’s thick, has hard sides, and is very soft. The backpack straps tuck away as well. I unzipped the neck support block and removed a tiny bit of foam for it to fit a square neck better. It’s a great bag.

I don't know much about gig bags, but I had a "Music Area Wind 30" that I liked a lot for a soft case.

Another vouch for Reunion Blues. I've got my gigantic body Guernsey in the dreadnought size and it fits snug. I like the backpack style straps plus a good standard handle in the traditional location. It goes with me somewhere or another nearly every weekend springs and summers and has for 4 or 5 years now. I originally had some concern for too much downward pressure from the lid against the strings and the cone, but it's not ever been a problem.
I don't have anything else to directly compare it to but I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

I have to agree with Rick on the Music Area bags. I have the Tang 30 bag in classical size and it fits all of my resos very well. Good and snug.
My favorite gig bag is the original version of the Access Stage 3 small body acoustic guitar “hybrid” gig bag. They have since redesigned them and personally don’t think the new ones are quite as nice.
