I know from reading old posts that Shubb has a replacement piece for its capo that works with a string height of 1/2", but is that the maximum height it works for? I measured and my strings are almost 9/16" off the fretboard.

That’s high, do you have a roller bridge because there’s a DoubleShot installed? I do and the Shubb doesn’t fit.

Hey ...I got them all. different kinds....problem is some work...some don't...a couple years ago all of them were too expensive...made to just to try to keep up with the fiddle players or vocalists that sang in Bb.
I started experimenting with making a reasonably priced Capos...ones that do the job. Mine float like JD's ...or Beard...but are $32.00...you pay shipping. Didn't have any returned in over 5 years....sold 743 of them. If you don't like them...you send them back to me and I refund your $$$. Didn't have any return...yet...but tomorrow is another day. The two are made of Naval Brass and Stainless steel.
Check eBay...also check my Resohangout page or google dobrotome to find me. This ain't a business for me...just a hobby. I am an old guy....knocking on 80 and used to play pedal steel...in fact bought one from Jimmie Hudson last year. Traded him 2 older steels...a Carter Starter and a 70's S10 3-1 push pull for a S8 with 4 on the floor and 4 knee levers. I guess it just keeps my hands and mind busy....
Be Well and Be Happy with each of your individual musical abilities.

The bar part that sits on the fret can be flipped for either a higher or lower setup. Check out yours to see how it's set up now. You might get lucky.
