Link below to one in Texas at the Guitar Sanctuary that IMO in recent years has brought in some of the coolest guitars from Paul & company of any of the retail dealers.
Not inexpensive - $3475 which includes the Hipshot DoubleShot.
Paul did some redesign after taking the model out of the product line for a period of time. One of the features and benefits is the Swiss Army Knife approach for a lap style player - but I don't know that it's my cup of tea - the biscuit bridge and shallow body while played on the more acoustic side doesn't get me very excited, but then I haven't been up close and personal with the current iteration of this model.
My main 6 string lap steel is an Asher Electro-Hawaiian custom and it is unlikely I would ever trade it for a Road-O-Phonic.

There was one posted for sale yesterday on the Steel Guitar Forum. Unfortunately, someone offered to buy it almost immediately, but you might want to contact the seller and put yourself in line in case the deal falls through.

That was my Roadie on SGF and I do have a cash deposit for it. I won't be finalizing the deal for a month, until my custom maple/redwood/ebony hollowbody version is done....the roadie is the only thing I play any more, so I commissioned a very special one from Ben Bonham.
I suggest that you should NOT get the one with two magnetic pickups...as you can see from Megan Lovell's demo, to switch between dobro and lap steel you have to twirl multiple knobs (the switch is only between the magnetic pickups).
Mine has just the Silver foil, and I can't imagine needing more than that - it is a wonderful pickup and does it all. On mine the switch goes between lap and dobro with a quick flick...middle position has both active. This is the setup that Jerry Douglas and Anders Beck (Greensky Bluegrass) have on their full-size dobros, and I suspect that they could have afforded the second pickup if they thought it would add something...
And by the way, all new roadies are spider bridge, not biscuit. They use a mandolin cone and standard No. 14 spider, cut down to fit by Beard when you buy it with the mando cone. The parts are available on Resophonic Outfitters on the Beard site if you want to check them out. That is what my custom one will use...

thank you for this info-definite important thoughts to consider. i did notice her and the need to use the knobs and thought thats a lot of involvement there. i did like the distinct tone difference between the 3, but again, there's a lot there to mess with while playing.
appreciate your reply very much

some of that tonal difference is just what pedal you hit and what amp you use, not the pickup. surely a P-90 is a simpler, pure rock 'n roll tone, and a Silver foil is a more complex one that I find can work anywhere - just add pedals to taste...
