Bought this instrument from an old timer who played fiddle with Uncle Josh when he came through NC. He claims he traded Josh an old Martin for it. He provided me great detail about it and how he came to trade for it, but now has dementia so it is impossible for me to get any more context.
I have had it under the bed and getting ready to learn. Just trying to get some background info..;not for sale.
It is round neck and has stamped 6090 on the head stock. Cone has patent # 1,896,484.
I appreciate all the expertise on this forum. Thank you in advance for any insight or guidance.

Your guitar was likely made between 1934-1936 in Los Angeles.
We will need photos to be of additional help in terms of model number, etc. of the top, side, back and headstock. You can upload photos below. Easiest from a cell phone. If you can't figure out how to do it, I can coach you through it. If you're still having problems you can email the photos to me and I can post them here.
If the old timer's story is accurate that he got it in a trade for his old Martin, then I'd say Uncle Josh got the better part of the deal. ![]()
