Hello All. Newbie here. In the market for a new resonator. What are the differences in say the Beard Legacy and the signature series? I am open to other brands as well so any opinions for say like fishhook, byrl, appalachian etc are appreciated.

Beard makes many models that appeal to many different types of players. If you lean in that direction, a call to the shop for recommendations is always appropriate and welcomed. You'd be talking to Paul or Denny. No one knows their guitars better.

Adding to Howard's comments, calling the builders is the way to go.
There might be a member here who owns for example both a Beard E and a Byrl, and they could give you some insight from their experience, but trying to get a handle on a variety of instruments from different builders - it's not like picking up the annual car buying issue from Consumer Reports and comparing the various SUV hybrids.
We're not talking entry level guitars either, these are all significant purchases so if it were me I would make the phone calls.
I'm guessing you've already checked out websites and YouTube for playing demos.
FYI regarding JD Myers and his Fishook guitars, I don't think he has been actively building in recent years.

For the best consistency and quality control I’d go with Beard personally. There’s a Josh Swift model in the classifieds (not my ad) that would make someone an amazing guitar.

Don Gann builds wonderful resonator guitars. He can be reached on Reverb.
