Looking for a 7-string and have an 8-string Adams closet queen to trade.

Seven stringers are a rare bird - wish I had one. There's a guy near me who had Todd Clinesmith build one for him several years ago and I have been able to play it a few times at a big once a year jam out here.
Fantastic guitar! He tunes it to G6: GBDEGBD - I found it more intuitive than playing an 8 string dobro in a 6th tuning. For whatever reason it seemed easier to steer clear of the 6th note when you don't want it.
Paul Beard stopped making offset spiders for a number of years and several years ago Todd had orders for three seven stringers, he was asking around for them on the Steel Guitar Forum. He did end up finding a few.
Gokd luck with the search.

I concur on that 7 string tuning. I borrowed a buddy's 7 string lap steel and did that 1356135 in A6. It works quite well. I may be too used to 8 string C6 (56135613) to switch, but recommend it for others.

Couldn't you just leave one string off of your eight string guitar?

The guitar's "life balance" would be off kilter. ![]()
