Hi everyone!
It's been ages since my last activity on the forums! I have, however, not been idle! Founded an ongoing gypsy swing session in my hometown, got to know awesome musicians and learned a lot (hopefully).
As an homage to Django Reinhard/Stéphane Grappelli and that style of playing I compiled an EP!
I attached links to the videos and would love to hear how you liked it! It's 3 classics and 2 original compositions, the latter being "Selbst für Dich" which is a feelgood pop swing song about a break-up and "Oktober in Prag" which is a romantic instrumental (and the reso is joined by a pretty big band before the end...hahaha).
Details: I play my Zacal C11 Master custom built Squareneck with a Beard Legend Cone and a trusty old Johnson roundneck single cone on "Oktober in Prag"

Yeah, I experienced the massive learning progress you can make in a (good) session previously when I had the luck of being able to go to a great oldtime/folk/bluegrass session around the corner from where I live!
The surprise was that I was able to find so many others who love that kind of swing music also.

Great stuff, Murat, it's great to see I'm not alone in playing this music on the squareneck. During the covid lockdown I put up some some Dobro and backing track videos on YouTube youtube.com/@SwingDobro and did a few distance recordings with some friends, String Driven Swing, who I've been playing with for some time (and still do) youtube.com/channel/UCQLXrkIV1...FT02UjKQ.
I have had the very good fortune of finding other supportive and open minded musicians to play with. The instrument can be used in contexts other than those with which it is usually associated, and I always try to keep in mind to avoid sounding like bluegrass or Hawaiian music. You succeed in this!!

Mike, I like Babik on your channel very much! It's great you found people who share the love for this music. In the pandemic, not being able to attend sessions of any kind was basically the one thing that hurt me most, I think. Glad, we can get back together, now.

My next release, however, doesn't even have a guitar in it. It's due in January 2024 and will be an EP of orchestral works and one string quartet which I will send to production companies and editors to get gigs as a media composer. After that, I actually have a few electronic tracks I wanted to do.
If I am not mistaken I posted two videos here of a Duo I am in where we just play Dire Straits with two guitars (me playing Steel and reso round neck). We occasionally do full nights with that show, but haven't recorded anything. Yet.
