JC Dobro - Posted - 02/17/2023: 06:25:52
Was toying around with this new open source Artificial Intelligence chat bot (ChatGPT). Asked it to write a poem about Dobro, in Medieval English style, and fed it a few keywords like intonation, vibrato, etc. A few seconds later it spit out this gem. Crazy stuff.
Whan that the Dobro with its sound so sweete
Hath caught the eare, and stirred the heart to beat
Then doth the minstrel with his fingers light
Dance o'er the strings, and play with all his might
First, he doth mute the strings behind the bar
To give the sound a soft and dulcet star
Then, with a gentle touch, the bar doth press
To make the music flow with ease and finesse
Intonation is the key, he doth know
For without it, the sound would be but so-so
So with each note, he doth adjust and tune
To make the melody soar and lightly croon
And when he doth slide, a little wiggle will do
For vibrato, to make the notes ring true
And with his finger picks, he doth pluck the strings
With care and skill, to make the sound take wings
And when he doth pull off, 'tis crisp and sharp
Like a bolt of lightning, from the strings it doth arc
The sound doth echo, and ring so pure and clear
A sound that doth delight, and banish every fear
Thus doth the minstrel play his Dobro so fine
And with his music, doth he make the heart entwine
A sound that doth uplift, and make the spirit soar
Dobro, Dobro, forevermore!

Hate to admit it, but that's better than I would come up with! "So-so" and other phrases aren't quite medieval, but what can you expect from an algorithm?
