Hey everyone, sorry of this has been discussed before
I'd like some opinions on this please, I have a few Dobros and I always find going back to a cheaper model with the strings slightly closer to the neck and they have a bit more of a bounce and not as 'set and Rigid ' as the beard. Now the bears has that distinct firm sound but always find the tension on the strings too tight, are there options to reduce this without going down a guage ? Curious to get all your thoughts

Unless I misunderstand the question, use a different set of strings.

Strings are always user preference.

Hey thanks yeah, I hoping there would be a way to adjust without going down a guage is all.

Cheaper than fabricating a new neck for the guitar.

What is the difference in scale length? A longer scale requires more tension.

Is this a round neck or square neck? It sounds as if it is a round neck. If so, both Martin and GHS have a line of strings with smaller core wire and larger wrap wire. They are advertised as being more flexible at the same gauge.

Maybe I'm missing something ?

For Squareneck ( played on lap , with tone bar ) firm string tension is a Good Thing , and loose floppy strings are an obstacle and distraction ?
