This is my RD40 Regalstein I operated on and it's sounding really fine. It came with this chip in the nut but so far no leads on a replacement. Does anyone have experience in
a Beard bone nut with regard to sanding/filing the back drop off? It seems like it would not work ie the drop off would have to be created then the slots filed into it. I'm not certain either if that chip is affecting things much since it looks like the contact point is still intact. Any opinions are appreciated.

Buy the nut from Beard pre-slotted. (unless I misunderstand your question).

The Resophonic Outfitters pre-slotted nut has the backdrop already shaped into it. The only fitting you will need to do is the nut slot itself, widening and/or shimming to fit.
