I have a 2004 Hounddog roundneck, I'd like to set action to standard for finger style. About 0.070" treble E and 0.090" bass E at the 12th fret.
I can shave the saddles down, but, then the tail piece hits the cover and doesn't provide any break angle. It looks to me that I have to remove the neck and set a steeper back angle. Or has anyone figured out a smarter method? Thanks in advance to all the luthiers out there.

I had a similar problem with a Regal RC-2 biscuit. My luthier set the action as low as he could, and ran the strings under the tailpiece instead of over. It's still slightly higher than preferred, but I've gotten used to it.
