I've been generally quite happy with the Doubleshot, with one exception - it has a nasty tendency to fly open while I'm in G tuning, back into the D tuning. I've tightened every little screw I can find on this baby and can't seem to isolate the problem. Any ideas?

Perhaps some of our DoubleShot owning members may  chime in, but if I were you I would get a hold of Denny at Beard  - very likely he can be of help.

Never had anything like this happen. I have been using mine for over a year now with nothing but great results. Did you install this yourself or was it already installed when you bought the guitar?

One thought, did you possibly over tighten the tension screws at the rear edge of the rocker arm. If so they could have damaged the rocker arm itself or they cold just be way out of adjustment. The instructions that I have say that those screws were set at the factory but adjustment is needed not over tighten them. I agree that a call to Denny at Beard is a great idea.

After reading my last post I was amazed at the number of typos and other mistakes I had left there. Proofreading can be your friend!

Hahhahh, yes, indeed. I had Gryphon install the DoubleShot. I tightened a few things after it started slipping - maybe that exacerbated the problem (and did I spell 'exacerbated' correctly?). Will give Danny a shout!

Yes on "exacerbated" - no on "Danny," it's actually Denny. wink

Denny has been very helpful to me on a number of occasions, but you may want speak with Paul's son, Ben. The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree and I had a good phone conversation with him  earlier today regarding an issue with a prewar Dobro I own.  Denny of course knows his stuff but he is mainly the guy in charge of guitar sales and advice, and  Ben is from my understanding more of the hands on guy who will apparently be the big dog when Pops (as he refers to him) decides to slow down toward retirement.

Sidebar: 1. Do you recall what Gryphon charged to install the DoubleShot  and 2. Have you had a dobro set up by them? The reason I ask is I was down there a couple months back and Frank Ford was still with us, sitting on a stool in front of his computer in his customary spot  the toward front portion of the repair and maintenance department. I spotted hanging  on the wall behind him some reso cones but I was busy trying all kinds of guitars so it didn't occur to me to ask these questions while I was there.
