Saw an ad for Blitz, a string care product that is said to remove dirt and tarnish and leave a "fine protective shield" on strings. Pros andCons?

Hi Joe, are you talking for SN reso’s. If so I normally just put a new set on, when they get like that. I never really thought about string preservation I guess.

The problem for me when using Blitz, is that I forget to use it after I play!!

So that is a major Con.

When I bought the Blitz product, a few years ago, it was reasonably priced.

I think it does a good job of cleaning the strings and, over time, keeping the bar from dragging on the strings, or getting "caught" on the strings, the bar action is "smooth", if any of those descriptions make sense.

That said, i do not keep a set of stings on the reso as long as they are kept on the weissenborn.

Thanks for posting the topic, hope it nudges my memory, and I will remeber to use Blitz on the reso today!

I have used Blitz, Dr. Stringfellow and other products.

I think these things are a good idea, or at minimum, wipe off your strings with a soft cloth after a playing  session.

To me, changing strings is a necessary evil. If cleaning them after playing gets some more life out of them - count me in.
