Back in 2020 I bought a Royall Triconestien guitar. It was listed as having a Figured Maple body and a Brass top which I thought sounded like a cool combination. It had some minor cosmetic issues when I got it but Royall made good on it by giving me a discount and it sounded pretty good. Short story, bear with me. Recently one of the many Snark clip on tuners I own broke so I decided to glue a magnet on the back where it broke and try using it on my banjos, reso's, and tele. It worked great with the magnet butted against banjo hooks, Tele volume/tone control plate, Golden Gate reso cover plate, and the top of my Brass? top Royal Tricone. Anyway, I now know my Golden Gate cover plate is not nickel plated brass and my tricone has a painted steel top.
Lesson learned. Just thought I'd pass that on. The magnet idea was still pretty cool though!
