I would like to know more about the resogat. What do you actually do there? Are there classes speeches, shows? I didn't find the website to be much help. I am considering going, I just don't know what I'd be going to.

ResoGat starts Wednesday afternoon, July 10 and will have workshops on Thursday and Friday. Open mike Thursday night and the Friday night concert. Frank Pointdexter is this year's honoree. Rooms for jamming, several luthiers and other vendors will be in attendance as well. [The Holiday Inn Express] Ask about offered rate for ResoGat attendees. More will be posted soon.

ResoGat is in Wilkesboro, NC. The phone number for the Holiday Inn Express is 336-838-1800.
Make your reservations soon because it fills up fast. Be sure to tell them you are attending ResoGat to get the special rate. It is $99.00 this year. There are other motels and campgrounds if the hotel is full and it normally is.

Resogat is a gathering of reso players. If you're looking for a low-key interactive place to play, hear and discuss resonator guitars, from vintage to brand new, this is the place.



How to register: Email your intent to come at resogatnc@gmail.com. Tell them if you want a shirt ($20 give or take)? Show up. It's so simple it seems like it should be harder.  Then get a room at Holiday Inn Express Wilkesboro NC so you can roll out of bed, walk down the hall to all things Dobro, and roll back into bed when you're a much older individual...



Rob Armstrong gave a capsule of events. Workshops run the gamut from playing technique to construction to history. None of the workshops are high pressure. The only one I can name is "Sound System Survival for Reso Players, Part Two" on Thurdsay at 11 AM.  And I know that because I'm presenting!

It’s a lot of fun. It’s pretty loosely structured but there are scheduled workshops, an auction, a vendor room, and usually some catered meals you can sign up for. Lots of jamming and hanging out.
