Hi All - I searched this site and Google as well. I am looking for a good recommendation for a teacher either in/near ATL, GA, or online. I found some teachers online who unfortunately are no longer with us, which is why I am posting here. I am proficient on guitar, bass, banjo, etc., and I'm looking forward to expanding my repertoire! Thx!

In the ATL area, I'd reach out to Lee Heirs. He might be able to get you started. Fine player.

I'd get some online lessons with Mike Witcher. He's a great player and teacher. mikewitcher.com/

I also highly recommend Mike Witcher. A gifted teacher, along with being IMO one of the best dobro players on the planet. Since you're already proficient on other instruments, music theory as it pertains to dobro should be fairly easy for you to latch onto. A lot of what a good dobro teacher can help you with is technique, and no one has any better technique in his hands and knowledge of how to develop it than Mike.
Howard's suggestion of contacting Lee (actual spelling is Hiers) is a good one. If you have an interest in going this route, I can contact Lee to see if he is willing and available to provide some help. Lee is a good guy and as Howard wrote, a fine player.

Do yourself a large favor and check out Joe Wilson (dobrojoe.com). I have been studying with him for a year or so and IMHO he is the best of the bunch. His new website is an ideal platform, allows you to schedule your own lessons, maintains a video of each lesson and enables Joe to document and share with you progress and goals for the next lesson. Good luck with your search.
