I got an "Original Hound Dog" Dobro from my Dad I used to play as a kid 54 years ago. The original receipt is still in the case, purchased 08/04/1970 in Beaumont, Texas. What I don't know is how old the Dobro is, how long it sat in the store when he bought it or who the true maker is. What I have read so far is that it could be from 67 to 70. The only serial is on the top of the stock and "320" and is the only thing stamped.

According to Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars this Hound Dog was made by the Dopyeras in Gardena, California. This era of the Hound Dog was as you wrote above in existence around 1967-1970 but Gruhn also shows 1971. I've never seen a chart with the serial number sequence and corresponding dates for this era.

If you don't already know the following, Mosrite owned the Dobro brand from the mid to late 1960s. When they went through a bankruptcy the Dopyera family regained the name after what was apparently an acrimonious  court battle. They began once again building guitars with "Dobro" on the headstock in 1970.

That is a very nice looking Hound Dog! yes
