Hi,

I am a beginner (for the second time). I am looking for a tablature for Ripple by the Grateful Dead. It will be my goal.
I have seen YouTube videos of it being played. It looks doable and sounds great. Thanks!

Square neck (lap style) or round neck?  Which YouTube version are you keying on?



I posted a beginner's solo square neck version of Ripple several years ago, but it’s in Open D.  Also, I capo'd to G to get a higher register.   I’m sure it’s doable in GBDGBD tuning, but you’d lose the alternating bass rhythm as demonstrated in this cut.

Anyhow, if by chance this is your reference, I'd be glad to tab it.  But it's of no use unless you want an Open D version with a square neck.

Here’s the Ripple tab. Nothing fancy, but it should get you 90% of the way there, and pretty well matches the video version I had posted. I capo'd 5, but tabbed it as if in open position.

Have fun with it!  Key is to keep steady rhythm/bass beats with the thumb,  and play melody notes on top 3 strings with index and middle.  (I didn't specify fingers on the tab...)

I play funny anyway.

I can pick with all five fingers. Usually only with three fingers on the top strings.

Glad to have the tabs for this. Always enjoyed the song. I attended one of their concerts at the st. Louis fox theater.
