Let’s hope this post is in the correct forum and should it not be - pardon me.
Received a Weissenborn Chinese knockoff and put on new string for open D, Pierce I believe.
This is my first musical instrument and I haven’t a clue where to begin lessons.
Would anyone know where to go for paid online via zoom instructions?
TIA

Mike Witcher does Zoom and is one of the best teachers available. He is known more for dobro than weissenborn, but he can play the heck out of either, and is equally good at teaching Open D for weissie or Open G for dobro.
Tell him I sent you...

I would be interested to know what path you chose.

Sure Frederick. I wrote to Mike W around the holidays and hadn’t heard back until this very morning. So I may pursue that route. He seems fairly busy though.
I’m not a young chickadee; 60 some or another and won’t be the fastest student- but the motivation is there.
I bought a $150 China knockoff via Temu ; ala Amazon and the depth of sound and resonance is quite remarkable in this lovely thing. It sounds better than any of my husband’s expensive guitars which are 4 digits plus. This in of itself motivates even more because of the sound which springs out. Frankly I can’t imagine what an original Weissenborn sounds like if this one is as beautiful as it is. Maybe I got lucky - but I’m in love with it.

Great. Allow me to mention another resource since you are a complete beginner. Lessons With Troy has a 4-part Weissenborn Series that starts from square 1. Pretty cheap for what you get. I have all 4.

Plus Troy's lessons with Open D Tuned Dobro or Lap Steel , will largely carry over to Weissenborn also .

….and you can view teasers of most all his lessons on youtube to see if you like his methodology.
