Hello all. I have one of the later generation 2535/2530 HI-TEK pickups that is plastic and filled with a epoxy type material. The lead wire is breaking right where it meets the body of the pickup. Has any one had success in repairing one these?

Well you can't get a new one anymore and used in good condition aren't cheap.
No idea if our new member is a roundneck or lap style player, but I came across a couple of guys over he years who put them on squareneck dobros and I thought they sounded a little too "lap steelish" to me - but roundneck bottleneck slide players don't seem to be as finicky about that sort of thing.
No doubt a luthier with experience in pickups can likely fix it, but if that isn't happening then I would go for a made in Oregon Krivo. Krivo also makes the surface mounted pickups for National these days.

Thanks for the replies. I 'am a round neck player. Honestly I don't know if I would even use it, as it was given to me from a friend. It would be nice to fix it mainly because it's the 2530 single coil model, which are fairly hard to find. Even if it's something I wouldn't use I'm sure someone would.

...I guess you could "trace out" the lead wire with a Dremel tool until you find the solder connection. Strip the end, resolder and re-seal in epoxy. I don't know if it's worth the trouble....
