Hello. I'm curious if anyone knows what year I have here? The number on the end of the headstock is 01262 and there is an "r" on the decal. Also only has a strap button on the bottom not near the neck.

It's actually 01626, and that's a weird serial number having five digits, since the early numbers after the Dopyeras regained use of the Dobro name in 1970 were three digits, then grew to four until 1974, then they added other identifiers to the serial numbers
My guess is to ignore the "0" at the beginning, which would make it 1626 and the year is 1973.

As far as the five digit thing - here is a link to a metal body Dobro from the same era that also has five digits.
Maybe it was unique to the metal guitars in that era that they began the number with a "0" - I don't recall coming across this in the past. More research is needed, but in the convoluted history of the Dobro guitar there might not be any additional information out there to help us.
Regarding the strap button on the bottom, I think all of metal body roundnecks came that way.

...and one more thing in looking at that Dobro on Reverb, I realize after expanding the photo of the bottom of the guitar, that's not a strap button - it's a screw for neck retention.
And come to think of it I don't recall seeing roundneck Dobros from those days even being equipped with strap buttons from the factory on the bottom or even on the neck heel, but I've never actually owned one since I'm a lap style dobro player.
