I'm looking for a simple app for my iPad to write tab in open G tuning. I've searched the forum and didn't find anything on this topic. I've searched google and looked at several apps, but haven't found one that offers the option for open G tuning. Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Ted

I don't use either of these programs, if I need to tab something I'm trying to learn I do it the old school way and write it out.
But check out the links below for Sibelius and Finale. These are pretty popular for some players.

Thanks- regarding your "writing it out," that's actually what my intention is. I'm looking for something for those times when I have to wait somewhere (or for an upcoming flight I have) that would be good opportunities to review and reinforce some things mentally. I could just use paper and a pencil, but it would be easier to use an app on my phone or iPad that I could just pull out when the situation permits.
Thanks,
Ted

Check out TefPad Pro. I’ve been using it for years for banjo and dobro both. An excellent program.

Found an app called "Notion". No personal experience but it says that it works on iPad et al and the reviews look great.

My wife uses Notion to write flute parts out. I have used it a little but di not think that it did tablature. For Tab,TefPad has been the best I have seen or used. As always, your mileage may vary..

On second thought... downloaded and explored "Notion". Great app if you want to be like Gershwin or Rogers and Hammerstein, a bit of overkill for producing tab. Kind of like using a howitzer to swat a fly! TEFPAD would seem to be a much better choice, it even includes Dobro in it's list of instruments.
