Wondering if it's worth the time, money and effort to upgrade the cone in my entry level Epiphone Houndog Deluxe round neck Dobro? I've seen several YouTube videos where players rave about the tonal change on inexpensive instruments, but thought I'd get some feedback from the crew here first.

It will definitely be worth it to install a high quality U.S. made cone.

You need to measure the exact diameter of the opening, along with the diameter of the existing cone.

For example, the Hound Dog may have a 10 1/2" cone, and the popular Beard Legend cone at 10 9/16" is a bit wider, and it would be a tight fit. These can be carefully trimmed with scissors if that's the case.

Theee is a 10 1/2" cone available from Mike Replogle here in Northern  California.

But the gist of this post is mainly about getting the measurements in your guitar before you order anything.

Perhaps another member has an Epiphone Hound Dog and can shed light on the matter.
