I'm guessing Rob is referring to the Grover that he bought from Elderly.

Good choice on the Grover. The Golden Gate and other thin ones will easily put a mark on your fingerboard between the nut & the 1st fret unless you put something underneath the nut riser (speaking from experience). In either case proceed with caution.

Regardless of brand name there seem to be only two flavors - The flat metal with right angle bend , and the cast one .
My experience is that it depends on the nut thickness , and the relative positions of nut , fretboard , and headstock , as to which fits best on which individual instrument .
