Anyone looking for a good deal on a reso should check out the Goldtone package deals on Beard's website. The packages vary but typically include a Goldtone reso with a minor cosmetic blemish, hardshell case and either a strap or picks.

OK, I'm sold! Should I get a solid mahogany, or a maple body? I will be adding a pickup to the guitar for gigging, so I'm more interested in good tone than in overall volume. I'll be using G-B-D-G-B-D tuning, and I'll want good tone on the low G string. I'd appreciate the advice of those of you who have the experience with different woods.

I think which one has the better tone is subjective. I myself prefer the slightly mellower tone of the solid mahogany. If you give Howard a call at Beard's I'm sure he would be happy to impart his knowledge on the different models. Cheers!!
