Hi,
I just bought a cheap Rogue biscuit cone resonator and a new cone and biscuit from Beard (the $52.50 9.5" cone). It actually sounds and plays alright stock, but I'd like to beef it up a bit.
The Beard cone and biscuit are way too tall for the guitar. The top of the biscuit touches the chrome cover.
Do I trim the bottom of the cone? The cone it is replacing appears to have had the bottom edge folded over to reduce the height. I can trim the saddle more to set my final string height, but right now I need to get the cone properly seated.
Any links available to set-up instructions?

I'd be talking to Beard. They're super good to do business with, and may have an easy answer.
Welcome to the board.

The biscuit has extra material and is meant to be fitted to the guitar.

Thanks, so I should sand down the bottom of the biscuit and then take more material off the bottom of the saddle?

If the ebony/maple biscuit remove from bottom of saddle. If the maple (traditional) biscuit remove from top of saddle.. I know the National biscuit does not have instructions, but, the Beard parts should have shipped with a slip of paper stating such.

Thanks, but the top of the biscuit itself is touching the chrome cover. The Beard saddle is ebony and maple, and I've already taken off 1/3rd of an inch of the maple.
Is it ok to drop the biscuit itself by 1/2?

A picture would be helpful. There should be pretty significant opening in the coverplate for the entire biscuit assembly to poke through without touching. Are you saying that the biscuit is actually touching the palm rest? That would be extraordinary.

I had to remove a lot of material, but I got the biscuit and saddle down to fingerstyle height. At first I thought the diameter of the biscuit was larger than the cover opening, but it was mainly the saddle touching the palmrest. It does fit in without touching the sides.
The new cone and biscuit/saddle have made a huge difference in volume and tone.
For short money I have a very usable reso. Now I have to see if I enjoy playing it.
I'll probably order another Beard saddle so I can set it up for slide as well.
Thanks for the help everyone.
