Hi everyone,
This is my first post on the reso hangout. I'm a member of the banjo hangout but decided to create an account here to ask you guys on opinions as im in the process of buying a lap steel for xmas.
My options are as follows:
1. Gretsch Synchromatic
2. SX USLS1NA
3. Dillon Lap Steel (Aussie built)
Has anyone played any of these and what are your thoughts?
I want a good sound for playing both country and blues (kinda open there i know but i think you might get the drift).
Thanks guys and gals

Have you ever thought VINTAGE.. when i was buying laps $200-400 got you a lot of lap. Look around your area, people have them and dont know what they are. But for NEW I would have to try the new FENDERS, they look a lot like the old ones. After all the're just a board, a pickup and a set of tuners.

I did'nt really think about vintage, I live in Australia and they are hard enough to come by in a music store let alone a vintage one. I will have a good hunt though. Thanks for the tip.

Chandler's are good for cheap, and you can drop a decent single coil in aftermarket and make'em scream.

Welcome! I don't personally like the new Gretsch lap steels. I think the SX lap steel is a better low end steel, a much better buy than the Gretsch. I have no experience with the Dillon lap steel.
Feel free to contact me privately if you'd like other suggestions. It would help to know your budget.
