One of the sound hole screen covers came off on my guitar. Is there any particular type of adhesive to use or to stay away from in reinstalling it?

It is my understanding that you are not supposed to glue them in.

Great sites mentioined above. The short answer for me is to add a bit of masking tape to the rim of the screen bezel. I use that brown tape that StewMac sells. I guess at a length, wrap it around the part that goes in the hole, trim it flush with a razor blade, try the fit, and add or subtract tape to get a good snug fit.
I attended a reso. construction workshop recently at ResoSummit. Tim Scheerhorn was the instructor. He had a roll of these cool little clear sticky round dots. You peel one or two from the roll, put them on the rim of the screen cover, and put it in place. I wish I would have gotten the source of those sticky dots. It was the coolest thing I learned that day.
