I just ordered a cheap resonator and got what I ordered; a cheap round neck resonator. I really want to get a square neck to play lap style. Being so new, I also see lots of lap steels on the market. Can anyone tell me the difference? Thanks

Resonator guitars are typically acoustic (though many have an electric pick up built in for amplification)...lap steels are exclusively electric and are essentially inaudible without an amplifier... two completely different instruments... a cheaply made lapsteel is just that... usually junk...
