Guys whats the lowest you can go at the nut and where the neck meets body without worring about the steel hitting the fretboard.

If you get to 3/8" or less you can have troubles...plus low volume and bad tone.

The string height should be the same at the nut as it is at the 12th fret. So says Paul Beard's

Hobbit, 7/16" seems to be pretty standard. 3/8" is a little too low and 1/2" might be too high. Though I would rather play a reso set up at 1/2" than 3/8".
